CIRCLE MEETING:
Our Circle meets every
Third SUNDAY of each month at the ground floor of the Our Lady Of Fatima
Parish Multipurpose Hall.
A Brief History OF THE cIRCLE
By:
Sis.
MARLENE R. LOPEZ, Past Regent
The Daughters of
Mary Immaculate (DMI) International of Our Lady of Fatima (Bacood) Circle
was organized in pursuance to the recommendation of the former Parish
Priest of Our Lady of Fatima, Msgr. Severino G. Casas, to establish a DMI
Circle as the counterpart of the Knights of Columbus Council which was the
prevailing practice in the various parishes where he was previously
assigned : Where there is KC, there is DMI.
The task of implementing the recommendation fell on the shoulders of the then K of C Grand Knight, SK Eusebio Grimaldo, who, after inviting some prospects, coordinated with the DMII National Office with the assistance of then K of C District Deputy, SK Ramon Miranda. Their efforts came to fruition when in the mid morning of June 2, 1991, at the second floor of the old parish rectory, twenty six (26) ladies, majority of whom are wives of K of C members, gathered for the briefing and orientation given by DMII National Officers on the objectives, thrusts/missions and avenues of service of the DMII organization. Inspired by the goals/programs/activities of the organization especially of its four missions/thrusts, namely Pro-Life, Morality in Media, Upliftment of Women Workers and Assistance to Prisoners’ Families and Their Victims, the ladies present enthusiastically signed up for membership. With the late K of C PGK, SK Lito De Lara as Election Chairman, an organizational meeting was convened and conducted where the first officers of the Circle were elected, thus the Daughters of Mary Immaculate International – Our Lady of Fatima (Bacood) Circle was born!
The first exemplification of the charter members numbering twenty six (26) together with the installation of officers was held in the afternoon of July 27, 1991 at the Our Lady of Fatima Church. The Circle has since observed and celebrated its anniversary and founding day on July 27, 1991.
